Digest of the day: winter Solaris, Jaguar without cars and other industry events

The AGR company, which owns the former St. Petersburg Hyundai plant, announced the expansion of the list of equipment for the Solaris NS SUV (formerly Hyundai Creta). All cars produced after October 10 are equipped with a telematics system with a remote engine start function. It will complement all the “warm” options that Creta originally had. Prices for Solaris NS crossovers start at 2 million 513 thousand rubles.

The Aston MartinVantage AMV24 supercar is shown, created in honor of the brand's triumph in the 24 Hours of Spa racing marathon this year. The British car won the Belgian race for the first time in more than 40 years. The exterior features of the special edition AMV24 are the Podium green body color with bright Lime accents, extended black decor and original 21-inch wheels. The interior features contrasting yellow stitching and embroidered special edition logos on the headrests of the seats. Only 24 cars will be produced, all of them intended for continental Europe.

Just the other day, the company Suzukiunveiled its first electric car, but the company's management remains skeptical about the prospects of battery-powered vehicles. Suzuki CEO Toshihiro Suzuki said that now is not the best time to release electric vehicles, since demand for them is falling, government subsidies are being cancelled, and competition with Chinese models is becoming more intense. In addition, 48% of Suzuki's sales are in India, where fuel-powered vehicles will dominate for a long time. Therefore, the company is no longer confident that it will release five electric vehicles by 2030, as previously planned. For example, the electric version of the Suzuki Jimny SUV is under threat, not only because of the weak economy, but also because the added weight of the battery would kill the whole point of this all-terrain vehicle.

General Motors has announced the end of production of the compact crossover Cadillac XT4in America: production will be stopped in January 2025. The youngest Cadillac never became successful in its homeland: in recent years, sales have remained at the level of 22-23 thousand cars. However, the main reason for abandoning the “four” was the re-profiling of the plant in Kansas to produce new-generation Chevrolet Bolt electric vehicles. The XT4 model will not have a successor, but production of this model continues in China.

Transition of the Jaguar brandThe luxury electric vehicle segment is being delayed: it has become clear that sales of such cars will only begin in the summer of 2026! The development and fine-tuning of new models is behind schedule. Production of most existing Jaguar models has already been stopped, the E-Pace and I-Pace crossovers will leave the assembly line next month, and the F-Pace plant will be shut down at the beginning of 2025. At the same time, the shipment of cars to dealers in the UK has already stopped (although warehouse stocks have been created), now only left-hand drive versions are being produced.

And the British company Lotus is going to fire another 200 of its employees, although the same number was cut in the summer. Interestingly, this is happening against the backdrop of growing sales, but it turned out to be much more modest than the company's management planned! It is not enough to bring in tangible profits and cover the loss of $ 202 million in the second quarter of this year. In addition, the near future does not bode well for the company, because the production of mass-produced Lotus electric cars is organized in China, and these cars will be subject to bans and increased duties in the United States and the European Union. Lotus has already reduced its production forecasts for this year from 26 thousand to 12 thousand cars.

Today we also talked about the plans of Bentley, Kia show cars, the Changan CS75 Plus crossover and the Modellista Overland Vision SUV.
