Porsche Conducts Large-Scale Recall in Russia

The press service of the official importer of the German company Porsche in Russia – “Porsche Rusland” – announced the beginning of a large-scale voluntary recall of its cars.

As indicated in the official statement of the Federal Agency for Technical Regulation and Metrology, this service campaign will affect only Porsche Cayenne cars sold on the Russian market between January 15, 2010 and January 11, 2016. The total number of cars being recalled is 14,494 units. The VIN numbers of all affected vehicles are published on the official website of Rosstandart.

The reason for the recall, as reported by the Russian regulator, was the possibility of incorrect placement of the retaining ring on the brake pedal axle, which during vehicle operation could lead to the axle coming out of the bracket on one or both sides at the same time. If the axle was secured on only one side, the driver will need to apply much more force to the pedal than is required normally to engage the brake system.

Official Porsche Russland dealers will soon notify all their customers who purchased the specified vehicles about the possible presence of a defect and the need to undergo free maintenance at one of the nearest service centers. During repair work, specialists will check whether the retaining ring is in the proper position and, if a defect is found, will replace the part with a new one.
