Daily Digest: Silver Civic, McLaren in New Hands and Other Industry Events

Honda is celebrating 25 years of its hybrid cars: the first such model in 1999 was the compact three-door hatchback Honda Insight (left in the photo). In honor of this event, a unique hybrid Silveriest Silver Civic e:HEV was built. As the name suggests, it became the silveriest car in the world thanks to the use of paint that is 64% real silver particles. The British company The Syrup Room was engaged in creating the unique coating and painting the car.

The electric car has the Audi A6 e- tron, which debuted in the summer in three versions, a basic modification has appeared. Its main feature is a more compact battery with an effective capacity of 75.8 kW h instead of 94.9 kW h in other versions. In addition, the only electric motor on the rear axle produces only 286 hp (or 326 hp in Launch Control mode). The passport power reserve on one charge is at least 520 km. In Germany, the base hatchback will cost 62,800 euros, and the station wagon – 64,450 euros.

The North American division of the Stellantis concernsued the German company Brose for violating the terms of the contract for the supply of components. Stellantis claims that the partner unreasonably inflated the prices of its products. In turn, Brose justifies itself by the general instability in the automotive industry. However, in the near future, the Stellantis concern may indeed need much fewer components, because the production of the Jeep Grand Cherokee (pictured) and Dodge Durango models was recently stopped again due to low demand and overstocking of warehouses.

The British company AC Cars, which recently announced the revival of the gasoline model Ace, has announced another premiere. An electric version of the roadster AC Ace will be shown at the upcoming tuning show SEMA. It is equipped with a Tremec Electric GT installation, which includes an electric motor with a capacity of 306 hp and a traction battery with a capacity of 72 kW h. It is promised that the car weighing 1134 kg will be able to travel 322 km on a single charge. The planned price is from 275 thousand dollars, details will appear later.

The Stellantis concern also prepared an unusual electric car for the SEMA show. The Mopar division took the classic muscle car Plymouth GTX1967, and instead of the standard 7.2-liter Hemi V8 engine, it installed the electronics from the modern Dodge Charger Daytona. This is an electric motor with a capacity of 335 hp and a 400-volt battery with a capacity of 73 kW h, which should be enough for 402 km of travel. As a result, the muscle car became 417 kg heavier. The exterior and interior of the car were completely stripped of chrome, and were designed in a modern way.

Ford CEO Jim Farley said that an electric mid-size pickup truck Ford Ranger EV is in development. It will be built on a completely new electric platform, but there are no details yet. The debut of the pickup is scheduled for 2027.

British company McLarenonly last March came under the control of the sovereign wealth fund of the Kingdom of Bahrain, and now another change of ownership has been announced. According to the published agreement, the new owner of the automobile division of McLaren Automotive will be the investment company CYVN Holdings from Abu Dhabi, and subsequently it will buy out a stake in the racing division. The new deal should attract additional investment, as well as strengthen the development of electric vehicle technologies.

A teaser of the production version of the three-row electric crossover Hyundai Ioniq 9 is shown. Previously, it was believed that the car would be called Ioniq 7, because the first concept car of 2021 was called Hyundai Seven. We have already published photos of camouflaged cars during testing, and a new sketch confirmed the unusual silhouette of the crossover. Technically, the Hyundai Ioniq 9 will be the closest relative of the Kia EV9 model. Its premiere will take place in November at the Los Angeles Auto Show.
