Future DS N°8 crossover: new name and interior

DS Automobiles announced the new electric model a couple of weeks ago, but its name was kept a closely guarded secret. The European press immediately announced that the new model would have the index 8, and this turned out to be close to the truth. Now it has been officially announced that the electric car will be called DS N°8. Yes, that's right, with the number symbol.

From now on, all new DS models will have this number identifier in their name. According to information from the company's marketers, the N° sign should further emphasize the origin of premium cars, since this is how numerals are traditionally designated in French. At the same time, on the car itself, the N° symbol has a stylized outline with a diamond at the top. The index 8 was chosen because of its similarity to the infinity sign and also because it was not used for the company's models and should symbolize the aspiration for a new electric vehicle future. Finally, DS N°8 will indeed become the brand's eighth model on the European market (taking into account generational changes).

At the same time, the first images of the interior of the electric crossover are shown. According to the French designers, the interior of the new product is inspired by the yacht style. On the shelf of the front panel there are two separate screens for instruments and a media system. The unusual four-spoke steering wheel attracts attention. The doors are equipped with audio system speakers in elegant housings, which visually are a continuation of the front panel. Of course, the interior has advanced contour lighting.

The DS N°8 electric car is built on the universal STLA Medium platform, that is, in terms of technology, it will be unified with the Peugeot e-3008 and e-5008 models. The top version will feature dual-motor all-wheel drive, and the longest-range modification will have a range of 750 km on a single charge according to the WLTP cycle. The full premiere of the DS N°8 model will take place before the end of December, but sales are expected to start in the spring of 2025. According to the European press, the production of the electric car will be set up in Italy at the Fiat plant in Melfi.
