In 2021, Geely Holding and Chinese IT giant Baidu created a joint venture to produce Robo cars, although they eventually entered the market under the Jiyue brand. The first was the Jiyue 01 electric crossover, followed by the Jiyue 07 liftback. Now the partners have set their sights on a hypercar and showed the Jiyue Robo X electric concept at the Guangzhou Auto Show.
Yes, the original name of the startup is relevant again. The name Robo X hides a squat coupe with a mid-engine profile, although we are, of course, looking at an electric car. Other exterior features include lifting doors of the “butterfly wing” type and an advanced aerodynamic body kit with separate spoiler and diffuser at the stern. The body itself is made of carbon fiber and allegedly integrates the HALO system from Formula 1, although there are no details about the design.
The cabin features bucket seats with five-point seat belts and a floating center console with a transmission selector. A very small auxiliary display is located in the center of the dashboard, and the main instrument screen is installed in the hub of the rectangular steering wheel. Thanks to the participation of Baidu, the hypercar can boast advanced on-board electronics, including the Apollo autopilot of the fourth level of autonomy. In addition, there is a SIMO voice assistant with artificial intelligence. According to the idea, this pair will help the driver more effectively pass the race track, giving valuable advice. Moreover, in a dangerous situation, the autopilot will take control of the car.
The Jiyue Robo X chassis is a combined design of carbon fiber and aluminum. The hypercar has four electric motors and a solid-state traction battery, but their power and capacity have not been disclosed. However, it has already been announced that, according to calculations, the Robo X will be able to accelerate to 100 km/h in just 1.9 s, and the range on a single charge will be 650 km.
The partners plan to launch small-scale production of the Jiyue Robo X coupe in 2027. However, its circulation will be limited to 88 units. The price has not yet been announced, but you can already reserve the car by making a deposit of 49,999 yuan (690 thousand rubles).
