The second generation Skoda Kodiaq was released a year ago, and the main addition to the range was a plug-in hybrid, which is so necessary in the current environmental agenda. However, the company did not abandon the least environmentally friendly RS version. Now the new Skoda Kodiaq RS crossover has been presented, and it even retains the same concept without any electric add-ons.
Recall that the Kodiaq RS was originally a diesel engine, but after the 2021 restyling, it replaced the 2.0 TDI engine (240 hp, 500 Nm) with a 2.0 TSI gasoline turbo four (245 hp, 370 Nm). The new car got a fresh version of the same engine with the Evo prefix, which already produces 265 hp. and 400 Nm. The seven-speed DSG “robot” with two wet clutches and all-wheel drive with a clutch on the rear axle have been retained.
Other features of the RS version are the adaptive DCC+ suspension with an extended range of settings and a recalibrated power steering. There are seven driving modes at once: Eco, Comfort, Normal, Sport, Individual, Snow and even Off-Road. Acceleration time to 100 km/h is 6.3 s instead of 6.5 s for the previous model, although in the version with the third row of seats the figure is slightly worse (6.4 s). But the maximum speed has become lower: 231 km/h instead of 234 km/h for the previous crossover.
The RS version's exterior features include original bumpers, 20-inch wheels, and abundant black decor: the radiator grille, mirror housings, roof rails, and other elements are painted in this color. Matrix headlights are included in the standard equipment, and the radiator grille is also illuminated. The interior now features “sports” front seats with integrated headrests and standard electric drive, a three-spoke steering wheel, and light red decor (including stitching). The graphics of the virtual instruments have been revised. You can choose the RS Lounge trim (suede and leatherette) or RS Suite (leather and leatherette).
The new Skoda Kodiaq RS will go on sale in a few months. Prices have not yet been announced. But the new Tiguan has a version with the same 265 hp engine. It is more dynamic than the Skoda (5.9 s to “hundreds”, 242 km/h), and in Germany it costs from 58 thousand euros. About the same will be asked for the fastest Kodiaq.
