Ferrari 296 Challenge Unveiled
The Italian company Ferrari has published images of a new racing supercar called the 296 Challenge. The car will debut at the end of October on the Mugello track as part of the Finali Mondiali
The Ferrari 296 Challenge was developed primarily to participate in the Ferrari Challenge Trofeo monocup and effectively replaced the Ferrari 488 Challenge Evo. The car's design is based on the 296 GTB road coupe, but the V6 engine was borrowed from the 296 GT3. Despite the fact that the donor has a hybrid power plant, the 296 Challenge did not receive an additional electric motor, but is content with a twin-turbo 6-cylinder engine with a volume of 3.0 liters. The developers achieved a record power for the engine – 700 hp and 740 Nm of torque. In addition, outstanding performance is achieved thanks to the aerodynamic body kit. It is claimed that at a speed of 250 km/h, a downforce equivalent to 870 kg is created.
Also worth noting is the presence of the latest adaptive ABS Evo Track controller, which can more effectively distribute braking forces between the rear wheels. Moreover, the car received carbon-ceramic brake discs CCM-R Plus and special Pirelli tires with 19-inch wheels with central mount.
