It became known that Ferrari patented the design of the new V12 engine. The most noteworthy is that instead of the usual round-form cylinders, oval
Honda has already tried to implement a similar idea in the 80s for the line of sports cars. But in patent drawings, you can notice that the design of the Ferrari engine will be different: the long side of the piston is located perpendicular to the crankshaft. This will reduce the dimensions of the motor and make it more convenient for use in medium -measurement and anterior stages. In addition, a new connecting rod system was developed for the engine. This design is similar to Nissan technology for engines with a variable compression degree.
However, there are difficulties. Honda had previously encountered the problems of improper geometry of piston rings, which led to rapid wear. Ferrari engineers tried to create the most correct proportions of the piston, which theoretically could increase the service life of such engines. & Nbsp;
