The first imported car with an electronic vehicle passport was the Porsche Cayenne Turbo sports SUV. Porsche Russland was the first among car importers to decide to issue an electronic PTS for a car imported to the Russian Federation, went through the required customs procedures with it, and completed the process by registering it with the State Traffic Safety Inspectorate. Note that in mid-December, The first electronic PTS were received by Russian-made cars. We are talking about Mazda 6 sedans and CX-9 crossovers, which are assembled in Vladivostok.
As for the process of registration of electronic passports, at the moment documents can be issued selectively, both in paper and electronic form. However, from November 1 of next year, all manufacturers must switch to the registration of electronic PTS. For ordinary buyers, the registration process with the State Traffic Safety Inspectorate will remain the same, and the electronic PTS number will be indicated in the purchase and sale agreement. Now car owners go to the State Traffic Safety Inspectorate department themselves, and from August 2019, dealers will be involved in the registration process.
