Porsche has shared details about the testing of the new Cayenne
Porsche has shared details about the testing of the third generation of the Cayenne SUV, which will be declassified in a week, on August 29 of this year. Pre-production models of the Cayenne have been tested in all corners of the world.
To simulate extreme loads, prototypes of the new Cayenne are tested all over the world. Including on the race tracks that Porsche traditionally uses to test all its models: in Germany, these are the Hockenheimring and the Nürburgring Nordschleife. In Italy, the cars are tested on the 12.6-kilometer high-speed Nardò track. Materials, sensors and electronics must prove their quality and durability in different climate zones – at temperatures up to plus 50 degrees Celsius in the dunes of Dubai (UAE) and on the dusty slopes of Death Valley (USA) and down to minus 45 degrees Celsius on ice and snow in Alaska (USA). The third-generation Porsche Cayenne also passed the test, where the start of the movement is constantly replaced by stops in the stuffiness and heat of the megacities of China, conquered test tracks in Sweden, Finland and Spain and visited South Africa, Japan and New Zealand for numerous road and off-road tests.
The new generation Cayenne is built on the MLB Evo platform, which gave life to the current Audi Q7 and Bentley Bentayga. This means that the SUV will be significantly lighter, which will lead to increased efficiency.
In Porsche took the evolutionary path in updating the exterior of the SUV: the Cayenne is the company's best-selling model and radical changes could scare off potential buyers, especially owners of current-generation cars.
But the interior of the SUV will be completely transformed. A virtual instrument panel based on a widescreen will appear here, the arrangement of buttons on the front panel and central tunnel will be completely changed, and a new infotainment system will appear.
